I have elected to place on this page various bits of information I have come across pertaining to Natural ways of making our lives more in tune with Nature. Thank you for visiting my world.

Subject: Vinegar & Stuff
Here's some info on the wonders of vinegar and baking soda as organic substitutes for chemicals:
Glass Cleaner:
- 1/2 cup of vinegar in 1 gallon water. Pour into a spray
bottle to use.
To unclog drain:
- Pour 1/4 cup baking soda into drain, followed by 1/2
cup vinegar and 1 tablespoon salt. Cover drain, if possible. Wait 15 minutes and flush with boiling water.
Prevent clogs:
- 1. Pour 1/4 cup salt into drain, followed by boiling
water. Repeat once a week.
- 2. Pour 1/2 cup baking soda into drain, followed by 1 cup vinegar. Quickly cover opening with a stopper. Flush with hot water after 15 minutes. Repeat monthly to avoid buildup.
Floor cleaning, counter tops and kitchen cleaning:
- 1. Equal parts vinegar and warm water.
- 2. Abrasive cleaner:
Equal parts vinegar and warm water with salt, or past of baking soda and water.
Toilet bowl:
Denture cleaning tablets. Drop in, flush after a few minutes.
Mildew:
Make a paste of baking soda and water. Apply. Wipe off, using a
rag with lemon juice.
To clean plastic or fabric shower curtain:
Machine wash in warm water on delicate cycle with 1/2 cup each soap and baking soda. Add 1 cup vinegar to rinse cycle. Drip dry.
Furniture polish:
1 part lemon juice mixed with two parts vegetable oil.
Carpet freshener:
Liberally sprinkle baking soda on carpet. Vacuum after 15 minutes.
General cleaning:
1/4 cup baking soda in 1 quart warm water.
Folk remedies:
Depression:
Eat two ripe bananas. They contain serotonin and
norepinephrine, chemical known to chase the blues away.
Clogged arteries:
Several long-term studies suggest that a daily portion (about and ounce) of nuts--almonds, cashews, pistachios or walnuts--actually may lower the risk of heart attacks and strokes and help keep arteries clearer by reducing the harmful (LDL) cholesterol. Nuts are loaded with calories, but they are nutrient-filled calories, and nuts are high in fiber.
Undereye puffiness:
Prepare two poultices:
Grate a raw potato and divide it among two pieces of unbleached muslin or layered cheesecloth. Place each over closed eyes. Leave on for 20 minutes, wash eyes with cool water and pat dry.
Insect bites and stings:
Make a past of meat tenderizer and water, then apply to the sore area.
Thanks Wanda.
